In psychological terminology, “stress” is a feeling of strain or pressure, often, though not always subjectively experienced as unpleasant. While small amounts of stress are likely desirable or even necessary; excessive or chronic stress can lead to or exacerbate psychological conditions, such as depression or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and likely increases the risk of a number of physical health conditions as well, such as heart attacks, strokes, or ulcers.
